Interview with NY1 about Water AI project with Tombras

NY1 and Spectrum Noticias covered Quili.AI, a project we worked on with Corporación NGEN in Chile about the environmental cost of AI.
The premise is simple and slightly funny: for one day, the community of Quilicura answers the questions people would otherwise put to a chatbot. Quilicura hosts six data centres, and data centres consume very large volumes of water for cooling. The point is not that anyone should stop using AI. It is that asking a model to do something trivial has a physical cost somewhere, usually somewhere that did not volunteer.
